Breckenridge Trip Recap

Warning: Picture Overload!

Thursday morning we headed out to the airport to hop on a plane to Denver. When we arrived to Denver we met up with the rest of the group. The line up included: Me, Dave, & Delainey/ Mom & Dad/ Kelli & Jeff/ Kent & Melissa/ Uncle Gary & Steph/ Paul & Des/ & Megan....14 deep!
This is us on the way to pick up the rental cars & all our luggage!
After a 2 hour drive in the snow, we finally arrived at our house for the weekend. It was ridiculous how big it was! It had 7 bedrooms (each with it's own bathroom), a basement with a movie theater, wine cellar, pool table & bar, a hot tub, and a huge kitchen. It was amazing! Here are some pics of the house...it even had a great view and backyard.
Thursday evening, we headed out to pick up our skis and then had dinner at the house. That night we just hung out playing cards and games.
Friday morning we woke up and suited up to go skiing for the day. Jeff stayed home with Delainey while the rest of us skied. It was a first for Kelli, Mom, & Dad and they did great! We had lunch on the mountain and then half of us headed home to relax while the rest continued skiing.
Des & I relaxed in the hot tub when we got home.
Friday night we cooked at home and played games & drank. Most of us went to bed early because we were worn out from such a long day of skiing.

THAT'S WHEN IT HIT....It started with David at about 2 am and progressed taking person by person down every few hours. We think it was altitude sickness or some sort of food poisoning, but boy was it bad. It ended up that David, Uncle Gary, Steph, Melissa, Kent, Megan, & Kelli all got it. They were throwing up and pooping all at the same time. (TMI I know) So needless to say Saturday was pretty uneventful because everyone was laid up in bed or by the toilet. The few of us who felt good did make it out of the house for lunch and some shopping in town which was really cute. It was a good thing we got such a sweet house because boy did we use it. I think we watched a good 6 movies down in the theater area and played tons of games of pool and pinball.

Sunday morning came around and majority of the crew was starting to feel better. David & I weren't going to let this sickness keep us from skiing so the 2 of us headed out for the day. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and we had a great time skiing together. I am getting better and was doing the blue slopes with him so I think he enjoyed it much more.

Around lunch time, I left David to go ski the black slopes and met up with the family to have lunch at place called Fatty's pizza. When we got home, a few more people were feeling better so we decided to go tubing to make the most of the last day in Breckenridge. It was pretty cool.
After tubing, we headed back to the house and played in the backyard. We sledded, made snow angels, and threw snowballs at each other. We got Delainey all suited up to play in the snow and she loved it! She went sledding with me and even made her own snow angel. I think playing in the backyard was the highlight of the trip!

Monday morning we woke up and packed up all our stuff and hit the road to Denver. David's friend from high school, Lindsey, just had a baby 2 weeks ago so we stopped by to see her on the way to the airport. We finally made it home around 11:30 at night. You should have seen the excitement on Delainey's face when she realized we were home. She was fantastic this week, but boy was she thrilled to see all her toys and have free reign of the house. All in all it was a great trip and I am so glad D got to see her first snow and go on her first ski trip. I can't wait till Dave can start teaching her how to ski! It will definitely have to become a McLaughlin family tradition.

Breckenridge Bound

What a crazy few days it has been preparing for our trip tomorrow for Breckenridge. I am an OCD planner/list person so I have had a mile long list that I have been checking off all week. I spent a good 2 hours yesterday making baby food for Delainey. I am bringing a lot of pre-packaged foods for when we are out and about, but I would like her to eat semi-healthy when we are at the house so I froze some stuff and will be bringing it along. I also went to target today to buy her some new toys for the plane ride. I am hoping they keep her occupied for the 4 hour trip. We also downloaded Cars 2 the movie on the ipad so if all else fails, hopefully that will work. It definitely seems easier to travel with a newborn especially if you are breastfeeding...all you really needs is diapers, clothes, and your boobies! Anyways I am so excited to go skiing and let Delainey see her first snow! I will post some pics on instagram and facebook throughout the weekend. I will be back in a few days to recap the trip. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

While making her food, she wondered off...this is how I found her; splashing in the toilet and unrolling the toilet paper! Look at the guilty smile :)

Baby D's new clothing steals!

Delainey is growing so fast and I am starting to worry since she doesn't have much 12 month summer clothes. I know it's only February, but one day it will be 60 degrees and then next it will be 80 degrees and we will be naked in the pool. Here are some items I have recently purchased for her. I can't wait to get them on her!

40 Weeks & Weekend Recap

I can't believe baby D cooked in my belly for 40 weeks and now she has been outside for 40 weeks! Where does the time go! Honestly I feel like my 40 weeks of pregnancy flew by. It seems like she has been alive for much longer than only 40 weeks. I can't remember life without her!
40 Weeks in & 40 Weeks out!

This week was very busy as we are getting ready to go to Breckenridge this Thursday for a ski vacation! I have been trying to pack everyone up, purchase last minute things we need, and watch Dean and tutor all at the same time. It doesn't help either that we have to bring breakfast this Wednesday for Mom to Mom and the girls want to do little gifts for all 100 moms since its Valentine's day. So I have been crafting as well!

I took Delainey and Dean to story time on Thursday and then they played with our little kitchen. They looked like a little old married couple!
Friday, Dave ran some errands with us which included getting some party supplies for Delainey's birthday. I am doing a little bit each month so it doesn't seem like I am spending such a fortune! :) Then we went out to dinner with my parents to celebrate our 6 year anniversary at Salt Life Seafood Shack! Yum!
Saturday we went to the Farmers Market in St. Augustine and had lunch at a cute little restaurant called O.C. White's! We followed up lunch with some shopping at the town center and then dinner at Marcia's.
Such a pretty double rainbow the other day! Thanks God! :)

9 Month Update

Height: 29 3/4 in - 97%
Weight: 18 lb 12 oz - 50%
Head Circumference: 17 3/4 in - 75%
Movement: Wild woman crawler! You move so fast that in a blink of an eye you are in another room. Since you are now mobile, you don't care for your jump jump or your walker anymore. They are too restricting for you these days.
Eating Habits/New Foods: We have tried ground beef, ground sausage, banana/quinoa, chicken florentine, green beans, broccoli  and tons of new fruits...watermelon, tomatoes, pineapple, mango. As far as snacks go we have added goldfish to the mix of cheerios and puffs. You are eating a lot of bite size pieces instead of purees. Most fruits and veggies are bite-sized. You are drinking 4 bottles a day...3 4 oz bottles and then a 8 oz bottle for bed.
Sleeping Patterns: We are back on track with sleeping. We start the bedtime routine around 8 so you are asleep by 9. You sleep till 8 am most days. If I can keep you from taking your morning nap, you usually take a nice long mid-day nap for an hour or two.
Sounds/Words: No new words, but you are imitating everything we do! I was coughing all last month and now you do it to be funny...it is so cute. You also started sticking your tongue out and making spitting noises.
New discoveries/accomplishments:
-You wave really well now
-You walk behind your wooden walker really well
-You got 2 more teeth on top. On both sides of the big teeth, so that makes 6 teeth total!
-You can climb stairs really well. You haven't mastered how to go down on your belly but we are working on it.
-You also understand the word no and obey fairly well. You usually try it one more time before you listen :) stubborn like her momma!
-You LOVE playing with all of Mommy's bracelets
New Friends I've made: No new friends, or at least that I know of. You were promoted to the crawlers room at the nursery during Church. I shed a small tear because you are growing up too fast but I think you like it much more! You met a lot of Aunts and Uncles and Cousins for the first time at Auntie Joyce's birthday party.
Places you went/Adventures: You went to the zoo for the first time and really liked it! You got to pet a goat :) You also went to Orlando for Pop's convention and then to Auntie Joyce's 90th birthday party. Everyone loved you and thought you were so cute! You also went to the beach and crawled around in the sand
Clothes: You are in 12 month sleepers. These are your current sizes: Gymboree-6-12, Target- 12 months (The shirts are short), Carter-9 , Old Navy/Gap- 6-12
You are in a size 3 diaper.

Night in Savannah & 6 year Anniversary

This past weekend we headed up to Savannah for the night to hang out with good friends and do a little wedding venue shopping. Jessica & Gregg are getting married and are thinking about having their wedding in Savannah. So early Saturday morning we dropped off baby D at Grammy's house and headed north to look at some venues. The first place we looked at was the Mansion on Forsyth Park. It had really cool artsy feel with tons of gorgeous chandeliers! We met with the wedding coordinator and went through numbers and all types of questions. The hotel rooms were gorgeous with claw foot tubs in the center of the rooms. I would definitely recommend staying there if you are taking a vacation in Savannah. The place was really pretty and Jessica left feeling like it was the place.
Then we headed to lunch at Soho and then were off to another venue and to look for little squares to hold the ceremony. At this point, the boys were over it and left us to go hang out at a bar. :) The girls headed to the Olde Pink House which was pretty, but too small for 80-100 guests. Maybe a rehearsal dinner option, but we aren't even thinking about that yet!
Then we walked a good 5 miles around the city looking at all the little squares scattered throughout. The one we like best was called Madison Square. The only concern is the weather. Jess wants to get married in February so it could be very cold and possibly rain which is always something to worry about. After a long day of walking, we headed back to the hotel to change and get ready for dinner.

It just so happened that Savannah was having a 10 day dining event where 15-20 restaurants offered a 3 course menu for only $30. So of course me being a fatty and loving food, jumped at the offer and booked reservations at a restaurant called Rocks on the River. The food was amazing! Between David and I we had chicken and waffle sliders, lobster mac n cheese, shrimp & grits, tenderloin papperdelle pasta, marscapone cheesecake, and a turtle bourbon pecan tart. I will definitely be going back to this restaurant! After dinner we  hit up a few different bars around the town and then called it a night. It was a great trip and was especially fun getting to do it with 2 of my best friends and their hubby/soon-to-be hubbys.

Yesterday Dave and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary. And by celebrated I mean, woke up early and rushed home to go pick up baby D from Marcia's house. It's crazy how much you miss her after only 1 day. Then we went home and snuggled on the couch and took a nap. That evening we headed to my parents for dinner and  watched the super bowl. It was a lovely little relaxing day. Maybe we will go out to dinner one day this week to celebrate, but honestly I am fine with just how we spent our day. Delainey had her 9 month birthday and we are going to the doctor tomorrow so I will be back soon with a 9 month post! Have a good week.

Pool Day & 39 weeks

This past Wednesday the weather was absolutely gorgeous! It was perfectly sunny and about 85 degrees. I decided it was a good time to test out the baby pool and see how Delainey liked it. She was hesitant at first, but then loved crawling around the pool and playing with her toys. The best part about it is that Lilly absolutely hates the water. She has become such a jealous dog that she jumped right into the pool and was taking Delainey's toys away from her. It was hilarious! Here are some pics we took of D swimming.
She hit 39 weeks this Thursday. Nothing new this week as far as accomplishments go. Just crawling around like a wild woman! On Tuesday, we went to the zoo again with the rest of our mom to mom group and then played at the park with Alicia and her daughter Collins. We also started a couples bible study on Thursdays with people from our church. Everyone seemed really nice and the people who host it have a son who is 18 months old who we know from mom to mom.  Anyways, we will be back shortly with a recap our our weekend.
