Infant Pool Float Review

Being that we live in FL and have an awesome pool at our neighborhood amenity center, I knew we would need to get Delainey a float for the pool ASAP. We probably go up to the pool 2 or 3 times a week. It does have a walk-in beach entrance where we usually sit, but I wanted to get her something to float in. Well anyone who has kids knows, it is frowned upon to take a baby under the age of 6 months into the water, therefore they don't make floats for babies smaller than 6 months. Nowadays most floats are for 9 months and up. I am determined to have a water baby from the start so there was no way we were waiting till 6 months to get her in the pool. So last night I did some research and read a bunch of reviews on different pool floats to see which would work best for my almost 2 month old. We decided to try out the Swimways Baby Spring Float with Canopy. It is for babies between the ages of 9 months & 24 months. It has some really great features: 1. it has a shade from the sun  2. it is easy to blow up and break down for easy traveling 3. it has an extra inner tube around the outside for extra support against flipping over. I purchased it today at Buy Buy Baby for $20 which is cheaper than most places.

We tested it out on Delainey today and it worked great! She obviously can't sit up yet by herself but it was just the right size for her to lean back and rest her head on the inside tube. The float is great since there is room for her to grow and provides enough support for a 2 month old. She sat in the float for a good 30 minutes kicking her feet and enjoying the day.

Did I mention the pool at my amenity center is awesome! Nothing like relaxing in the sun while servers come around giving you pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris!

This evening we went out to eat at a restaurant called Napoli's Pastaria. I am Italian and am obsessed with anything that has pasta in it, so I knew I needed to give this place a try. All of the food was delicious especially the cannoli we had for dessert. I will definitely be going back again!

Beach Day & Dinner @ the In-laws

Late last night David decided it was time for Delainey to use her jumping gym. We got the baby Einstein one because I have heard great reviews about it. I told him she was still too small and that they weren't supposed to use it until they could sit up on their own usually around 4 months. He insisted anyway and spent a good 30 minutes setting it up. Of course we had to put her in it immediately and try it out. She was definitely too small. Her feet are about 4 inches from touching the ground. Looks like Delainey isn't going to be doing much jumping anytime soon.

Today we decided to try the beach out, instead of the pool. Once again Delainey was a champ. She did nothing but sleep the entire time. Something about being outside just instantly knocks her out. It was a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky.
Don't you just love her smocked bathingsuit! We bought it from Smocked Auctions on Facebook. If you haven't heard of it you must find it ASAP. All smocked items are around $30 which is a steal!

Then we went over to the in-laws for dinner. My father-in-law has been out of town for work for the past month so it  was great to see him. Dinner was delicious as usual (my in-laws are unbelievable cooks!) Then we hung out and watched the Olympic gymnastics trials. I can't wait for the Olympics to start. D and I will be watching it everyday decked out in our red, white, and blue. Here are 2 pics of D and her cousin Paige. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

8 weeks & Pool Playdate

Today the sun was finally shining, so we decided to live it up while we could and had a pool playdate with my friend Meg and her son Matthew. Delainey doesn't do too much as far as swimming goes, but boy does she love to sleep outside. She did wake up for a little bit and I took her in the water. She seems to really enjoy it as long as it's not too cold. Here are a few pics from the playdate.

Then we ventured over to Grammy's house (my mom) to do a little more swimming and sunbathing. I brought Lilly (my yorkie) over too. Lilly loves to run laps around the pool while we lay out and play with my mom's dog Tiki. It is hysterical how this dog will run in circles for hours. Here's a little video clip and a few more pictures at Grammy's pool.

After the pool, we went for our usual Thursday night Mexican meal. The whole family goes and we look forward to it every week. It is great to catch up on what has been going on during the week and figure out plans for the weekend. Before we went to dinner, we tried to snap a few photos of Delainey next to her 8 weeks blocks. She was not very happy and we were in a rush so they aren't the best, but o well.

I think we are going to try to venture to the beach tomorrow. Hopefully we can withstand the 97 degree heat wave that's coming! Overall, today was a great day and kept us busy as can be! I'm off to watch Wrath of the Titans with the hubby & D!  Good night!

Recap of Delainey Marie

Last August, my husband (David) and I found out we were pregnant. We were elated as we had been trying for quite some time. A few months later we found out it was a little girl due on May 3rd. For those of you who know me, you know I am a little OCD and need everything to be planned out and organized. So of course it was fitting that my child would be timely and be born on her due date! It was the most unbelievable experience. I was so nervous after hearing so many horror stories, but honestly it was the easiest labor ever (my entire pregnancy was great too)! Delainey weighed in at 7 lbs 10 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long.

Delainey is the most laid back, easy-going baby ever.  She goes everywhere with me and the louder the place the better. She sleeps through anything. She is breastfeeding every 3 hours during the day and about 5 hours at night. We usually do our last feeding between 11 and 12 and she sleeps till 5 or 6 am which has been fantastic. She is growing up so fast. We are at our 8 week mark tomorrow and she is over 11 lbs. We have our 2 month check up in 2 weeks so I will have more definitive measurements then. She can hold her head up and stands fairly well. She struggles to poop after she eats. It is about a 15 minute process and she makes the funniest faces while trying to push it out. I think it is my favorite part of the day! Heree are some pictures I have taken of Delainey over the past 8 weeks.

Joining the Blog World!

So I have finally made the plunge into the blog world. I have been reading random blogs over the past few years once my sister started one, but never really had the time to start one of my own (nor anything too exciting to write about). I still don't have any great fashion advice or recipes that will blow your mind to blog about, but I am going to use this more as a journal of our lives since having a baby. I think it will be great to look back on when more babies come. :) I hope you guys enjoy reading about what our daily lives entails! Be back soon for the first official post!
