Saturday Boat & Party Day

Yesterday we had a fantastic day enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. We woke up early and saw how gorgeous it was and knew we couldn't let it go to waste. So we decided to take the boat out and go to lunch somewhere on the river. We ended up going to Outback Crab Shack down in St. John's county. The food was pretty good, but it was a little pricey for what you got. Then we cruised around on the water and let baby D play. She loves the boat!! Now that she can crawl and climb, she gets in to everything. I was definitely more concerned this time about her climbing over the side, but she had her life vest on. Speaking of her life vest, she hates it! She looks like a fat little marshmallow who can't move her arms or do what she wants. She fell over a few times and was stuck on her back like a flailing turtle. It was hilarious...Sorry D, safety first!
Anyways after lunch, we headed on the boat to my friend Krista & her fiance Chris's couples shower. It was on the river so we just took the boat there. It was a great laid back party with an oyster roast and catered tacos. Everyone just hung out outside and played horseshoes or croquet. Of course, Delainey stole the show. Everyone kept coming up and asking to hold her or play with her and she behaved great! We had a great time playing with the girls and celebrating Krista's soon to be wedding!
Delainey and the bride Krista having a good ole time! (Note: there was no wine in the glass, it was actually guacamole and chicken haha)

Easter Tradition: Resurrection Rolls

Of course I found this idea on Pinterest and I just loved it! Sometimes it is difficult for a child to understand that Jesus rose from the dead. That he was laid in a tomb that was closed by a huge rock and when they went back to find him he was nowhere to be found. This idea actually shows kids that you can enclose an object and then suddenly it can disappear. This is going to be a new Easter tradition for our household. Here is the recipe for Resurrection Rolls:

Ingredients:
1 can of crescent rolls
8 large marshmallows
melted butter
sugar
cinnamon

Directions:
Give each child one triangle shaped section of crescent roll. This represents the tomb. Each child takes one marshmallow which represents the body of Christ. Dip the marshmallow in the butter and roll in the cinnamon and sugar mixture. This represents the oils and spices the body was anointed with upon burial. Lay the marshmallow on the dough and carefully wrap it around the marshmallow. Make sure all seams are pinched together well or the marshmallow will ooze out. (It is hard to seal all seams so be very careful!) Bake according to the package directions. Cool. Break open the tomb and the body of Christ is no longer there! Celebrate God's love & Happy Easter!!

Not only do they teach a great lesson, they taste great too!!!

And here is how Delainey was helping Mommy with the rolls...climbing up the walls! haha

Delainey's Easter Basket

Like I previously said in my last post, I went a little overboard with Delainey's Easter Basket. I just couldn't help myself. I started by buying her an Easter "bucket" from a store on Etsy. I think I could probably make it with my Cameo cutting machine, but I couldn't find a pink bucket and got lazy :) I love how it turned out. Then the items to stuff it with began...
I purchased several little outfits for her. The plaid bubble is from Gap and the paisley smocked dress is from Smocked Auctions on Facebook. By far the best prices for smocked dresses if you are in the market for them. (I also got D's Easter dress on Smocked Auctions)

Keeping with my own family's Easter traditions, I had to get Delainey a bathing suit. I searched high and low for a cute 2 piece, and finally found this gem at the Gap on Thursday.
Other items that were in her bucket were: sidewalk chalk, princess bubbles, foam bath letters, beach toys, 4 pop-up books on famous bible stories, an Easter story book, and a book called Press Here that I think is so cool! Press Here is a book about a dot and it tells you to do certain things. When you do them and turn the page, magic happens! It is so cute!! Anyways here is a picture of all her goodies!

47 Weeks & Week Recap

Boy has it been a busy week. We started off Monday watching Dean and tutoring. Then Tuesday, we ran errands and I went to the FSU vs. UF baseball game while Aunt LaLa (Kelli) watched D. It was so cold I am glad I didn't bring her. Then Wednesday, we had a playdate with our Mom to Mom group and some final tutoring before spring break. Yesterday, we went to lunch and ran errands with Kelli then had the Seder dinner and today we went to the pool and attended the Good Friday Service. The madness continues tomorrow, we have my friend Krista's couples shower and I want to dye Easter eggs with D. And then it's EASTER!
Erica & I at the baseball game
 Lunch and Shopping with Lala
Pool Day (we were the only ones there. The water was freezing but that didn't stop D)
On to Delainey hitting 47 weeks. As much as I like documenting what she is doing, I am really ready for 52 weeks :) These pictures are so hard to take!! Not a ton new. We are still working on walking. She doesn't really like to walk just yet, so when I stand her up she usually sits back down, but we are getting there slowly. I made a ton of food for her this week...mostly dishes that include meat. We have no problem integrating fruits or veggies into her meals. She is really good at eating large foods now. She loves to eat goldfish, pretzels and hummus, string cheese, and soft granola bars. I think that pretty much sums up this week :) Here are some of my crazy pictures I snapped of her.

Not really enjoying standing on her own :)

Passion Week Updates & Easter Traditions

In the days leading up to Easter, our church has done a Passion Week that includes all types of cool events. They have had services every night and did a traditional Seder Passover meal last night. I have been able to attend 2 of this weeks events. Last night I attended the Seder Passover meal. It was really cool to experience what the last supper was really like. They even were speaking in Hebrew and translating exactly what was done 2000 years ago. Tonight Dave & I went to the Good Friday service. They had some really cool videos and great music. I am really glad we went. Here was a link to one of the videos they showed that  I really liked.

This was at the Seder Dinner
We have big plans for Delainey's first Easter. We are going to church, then have brunch reservations at a new place called KC Crave, and then we are hopefully going to the beach (weather permitting). It is going to be me, Dave, Delainey, and Kelli & Jeff. All of the grandparents are outta town so it's just the few of us. Anyways, I have gone WAY overboard on Delainey's Easter basket. Her basket is going to have it's own separate post :) one of these days. I can't wait to watch her dig into her new goodies. We are also going to attempt to dye eggs tomorrow.

Since it is Delainey's first Easter, I am trying to implement some fun traditions even though she doesn't really understand them. Here are some of the things I want to do every Easter:
1. Dye eggs
2. Do Easter egg hunt (we need cousins and siblings to make this more fun!)
3. Church & Brunch
4. Easter basket (I am carrying on some of my traditions and including beach stuff like toys and a bathingsuit)
5. Resurrection rolls (I will do a post on these too! I think they are such a cool way to teach kids that Jesus was no longer in the tomb)
6. Bury jellybeans in the yard (each color represents something) and they turn into lollipops the next day

Here are 2 pics of my little bunny to leave you with! Off to do her 47 weeks post!

46 Weeks

46 weeks was a BIG week for us! As you saw in my previous post, Delainey took her first steps. I wasn't sure we were going to see much more walking, as I have heard of some babies who walk and then don't for another month or two. Definitely not the case with D. She has been walking a ton around the house today! (with our help standing her up of course) We also tried pizza and chicken and dumplings for the first time. Of course she loved it all. Taking these weekly pictures have become such a task. She is all over the place and is a maniac so I snap pictures wherever I can. Here are some for 46 weeks.
Doing her "touchdown" move!

Delainey's First Steps!

Delainey took her first steps tonight! We were at bible study and I was just telling everyone how we weren't quite there with the whole walking thing and she decided to prove me wrong. She did it once and then we grabbed the camera and tried again. Too bad Dave was working late and missed it! At least I got it on tape. Here it is!

St. Patrick's Day/Weekend Recap

Friday night, we went to watch Aunt Kelli play in the semi-finals game for her flag football team. They of course won (they've been undefeated for about 3 years now) and then had some Mexican for dinner. Aunt Emily came over to spend the night and hang out with Delainey. The next morning we got dressed and headed to Krista's bridal shower. Boy did she rack up! It makes me want to have a shower for myself every 5 to 10 years! All my pots and pans need refreshing and I would love some more serving platters. :) Anyways the food was delicious and it was just fun to dress up and hang out with the girls.
After the shower we headed out to the beach and had a girls day at the Lemon Bar. The weather was absolutely perfect for day drinking outside. Later that night we went to Mellow Mushroom for dinner and then Dave came to get me to head home. It was a really fun day catching up and hanging out with all the ladies.
Today we woke up thrilled to celebrate Delainey's 1st St. Patrick's Day. We dressed her in a lovely green tutu and Dave made us green pancakes for breakfast.
Then we headed off to church and then lunch at Five Guys. We ventured out to the beach to meet up with some friends, but by the time we got there it was cloudy and cold. We hung out for about an hour, but it definitely wasn't beach weather. Of course D loved crawling around though. Tonight we just hung at the house and did some chores. It was a great weekend and I am excited for all the upcoming events/holidays. It is going to be a fun/busy next 2 months!
Rockin' her sweet Aviators!

45 Weeks

The other day I said was doing some crafting. I am very happy with how it turn out! My friend Krista is getting married next month and I attended her shower yesterday. I wanted to make her a sign to hang in her house with her new last name. We went to Lowes and bought a nice piece of wood that was 24" by 9". I also purchased the sample size paint which was plenty for the small piece of wood. I painted the wood (probably about 3-4 coats) and then sanded the edges to make it look a little worn.
Then I used my Cameo and cut out the words on vinyl. Transferring it to the wood is by far the hardest part. Not so much hard, just difficult to make sure it all lines up and is centered. Here is what the final product looks like:
I think I may try to sell them around Jacksonville for a little side business. I am finally starting to get the hang of my Cameo so I'm excited to try more projects.

Nothing new this week, just the usual as far as Delainey goes. She is doing awesome with all of her sign language. She is really using the milk, more, and all done signs to let me know what she wants. She's a pro with the doggie sign as well. Here are some pics from the other day. I will be back with a weekend recap tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great week!

Crazy Faces of Delainey

Delainey is not a picky eater what so ever. She tries absolutely everything and will occasionally spit it out if it's not to her liking, but she definitely will try it. David tends to use this to his advantage to mess with her. Tonight he thought it'd be funny to see how she likes lime juice. Her reaction was hilarious! The best part is she kept drinking it and making the exact same face over and over. Here's a little video so you can see the crazy faces she make.
Also here is a picture of her outfit yesterday. This weather is killing me! It's too cold to go to the beach, but not cold enough to wear turtlenecks and boots. We are ready for heat! Our community pool is doing a St. Patrick's day party and is opening for the day! I am so excited to get D there to see what she thinks of the pool!! Have a good Thursday!

44 Weeks & Weekend Recap

Delainey hit 44 weeks and with it came 2 more teeth. She is getting her 7th and 8th teeth. They are on the bottom. It hasn't been too bad this time. She will randomly just start screaming out of the blue, but calms down pretty quickly. We have really only had 1 sleepless night so I can't complain.

We had a very nice, relaxing weekend. Friday night we headed down to St. Augustine to have dinner with David's parents. We went to A1A Ale Works and then walked around downtown. Of course we had to stop for some gelato for dessert. Saturday morning, David and the boys took the boat out to go fishing. So the girls (Erica, Jessica, D & I), decided to hit up the Riverside Arts/Farmers Market and go to lunch. The farmers market was probably the best one I have seen in our area. They had tons of fresh produce as well as  a lot of homemade breads, pastas, and sauces. We got a lot of vegetables, fresh pasta and bread, and of course some new bows for Delainey. Then we headed to the Garden Club that was right next door. It just so happened that they were have their annual Orchid festival. There were so many gorgeous flowers! After walking around we had lunch in Avondale and then called it a day.

Then that night we headed over to Kelli & Jeff's to hang out. Allie and Brandon came over too with Camdyn and Haigan so it was fun for Delainey to play with them. Haig & D are only 6 weeks apart so it was cute to watch them interact with each other. It's crazy how different they are in size. Delainey needs to gain some weight! :)
Then Sunday we woke up and went to church and then out to lunch. After lunch we stopped by Lowe's for a few things. My friend Krista has her bridal shower this weekend so I am doing a little crafting for her gift. I'm also trying to get some things for Delainey's party. It is coming along...slowly, but surely!
Yesterday, we went to the zoo with Aunt Melissa and her nieces who are visiting from Wisconsin. We ended up buying a season pass to the zoo, so I see many trips in the near future. :) We had a great time!
Today we are just hanging out at the house and doing some crafting. I hope everyone has a great week!

10 Months Update

Height: abolut 30 inches
Weight: about 19 lbs
Head Circumference: about 18 inches
Movement: Still crawling all over the place. We are working on your walking while only holding one hand. You haven't really gotten the hang of it yet; you take very large steps. Besides crawling you have turned into quite the climber. Stairs are your favorite! You are now crawling up the dog stairs onto our bed & just the other day Dad accidentally forgot to close the gate and the next thing we knew you were at the top of the stairs playing. I had a mild heart attack! You have gone down the stairs backwards a few times, but we are still working on it. You also climbed the washing machine and got stuck half way in and started crying to let me know you had no way to get out. Looks like Mommy needs to watch you a little closer these days! :)
Eating Habits/New Foods: We are mostly into big kids food! The only baby food we do is rice cereal and some puffs, but other than that majority of your food is bite size pieces and what we are eating for lunch or dinner. These are some of the new items you have tried and you absolutely love all of it: Peanut Butter, Peanuts, Hummus, Pretzels, cheez-itz, Sliced Turkey, zuchinni, cucumbers, tomatoes, (sausage, peppers, and onions pureed together), basil penne pasta, beef stroganoff, fish sticks, shrimp, crab, fruit popsicles, & cereal bars.
You are still drinking 4 bottles a day...3 4 oz bottles and then a 8 oz bottle for bed.
Sleeping Patterns: We start the bedtime routine around 8:30 and are asleep by 9 pm. You sleep till 8 am most days. If I can keep you from taking your morning nap, you usually take a nice long mid-day nap for an hour or two.
Sounds/Words: No new words, but you are imitating everything we do! And I mean everything!! You do a knocking noise with your tongue, laugh when I laugh, cough when I cough, pretty much any sound I make you try to imitate it.
New discoveries/accomplishments:
-You passed the peanut butter test! Well not really a test, but you had no allergic reactions to peanut butter so we are thrilled! You also did fine with shellfish
-You saw snow for the first time, went sledding & made your first snow angel
-You do the doggie sign
-You are starting to do the please sign
-You are loving your new drum & music set!
New Friends I've made: No new friends, or at least that I know of. You did have a good time visiting Uncle Gary & Steph, Paul & Dez, and Megan in Colorado. You did go through a little bit of seperation anxiety for 2-3 weeks, but it wasn't too bad. Just with people you weren't familiar with.
Places you went/Adventures: You went to Breckenridge, Colorado and got to see snow for the first time! We had such a good time bundling you up in your snowsuit and letting you crawl around in the snow. You went sledding with Mom and you also made your first snow angel. No skiing yet, but hopefully next year!
Clothes: You are in 12 month sleepers. These are your current sizes: Gymboree-6-12, Target- 12 months (The shirts are short), Carter-9 , Old Navy/Gap- 6-12
You are in a size 3 diaper.
